Baterra

Anyone know where I can get Baterra here in Austin?

Kyoto on Congress (above the elephant jazz bar)

Is this place any good? I have been there once and thought it was decent...but that was when I was new to sushi. I want to go somewhere tonight but every place I have looked into is giving me HUGE mixed reviews!

Pregnant Sushi Advice needed

I just found out I am pregnant, and my sister is coming to town this weekend. We ALWAYS go eat sushi together. She doesn't know I am pregnant yet. So, I want to tell her over lunch. I have read there are certain restaurants that make a 'pregnancy roll' with ingredients 'ok' for moms to be. Has anyone found these? It would be just the trick to order one.. and see the look on her face! =)

PS: Also.. what else can pregnant women eat at sushi restaurants? Im kinda clueless to this.

different beer at sushi places....OB Beer?

My girlfriend and I frequent the Korea House and discovered that we really like OB, a korean beer. The owner told me last week that he was out and the stock he had was given as a gift. We went to the new Korean market on North Lamar but they do not sell alcohol. Grapevine used to carry it but not anymore and I have not seen it anywhere else.

Does anyone know of a market that carries OB in Austin?

Thanks,
Kirk

Okonomiyaki

I happened to find the Austin Sushi website while doing a Google search, and I hope you don't mind if I ask a non-sushi question. There was an article about okonomiyaki in the travel section of the Austin-American Statesman this weekend. I was in Hiroshima last year, tried okonomiyaki, and loved it! The newspaper article just gave me another craving for it. Does anyone know if there is any restaurant in Austin or San Antonio that serves okonomiyaki? I know the chances of that are small, but I just have to ask. I've thought about trying to make it at home, but somehow I just don't think it would taste the same (even if I could keep from flipping the ingredients all over the stove! lol)

Sashimi at home tonight?

I go to Eaves Bros. Quality Seafood store every week to buy salmon or tuna, sashimi grade. This place is amazing! Sashimi grade salmon is 7.99 or 6.99 a pound, and most-always tastes amazing! Last night when I bought salmon, they took out a new big salmon fish and cut the whole fish up in front of me. Then he let me smell the aroma of the head (melon-like, suprisingly). It literally melted in our mouths during dinner (we got a super fatty part). Sashimi grade tuna is more expensive, something like 16.99 per pound but sometimes they have chunks for much, much less. You can also buy octopus for takoyaki there! Cheers!
